Clerk goes free after refusing marriage license

Davis was held in contempt on of court Sept. 3 because she refused to issue a same-sex couple’s marriage license due to the fact that it conflicted with her Christian beliefs.

She was freed from jail as her deputies fulfilled the request for a same-sex marriage license.

Davis is allowed to return to work, but with the caveat that she can not interfere with her deputies issuing marriage licenses.

She has received support from Republican candidates Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee praising her for her actions.
