The newest fraternity on campus, Pi Kappa Phi, is currently in the early stages of selecting founding fathers for the Loyola chapter.
Pi Kappa Phi leadership consultant Keenan Dollar is on campus for the next few weeks to help get the process started.
“We are looking for men with character, leadership, achievement, scholarship and service,” Dollar said. “I am meeting with potential guys and holding interest sessions.”
Pi Kappa Phi is holding open recruitment, which is the standard for all of their chapters across the nation.
“We are currently going through recruitment, I would ideally like to have 15 to 20 men when I leave in three weeks,” Dollar said.
English writing and mass communication sophomore Andrew Ketcham is one of the students who has applied to be a founding father.
“I want to be a part of something bigger than myself,” Ketcham said,.”I met with Keenan Dollar. He contacted me after I filled out the interest form. I think the current fraternities on campus are great and they all have really great men, but this is really good that we are expanding. This will provide a balance and diversity. There will also be more philanthropy which contributes to our Jesuit identity.”
