Dear Editor,
In response to your Dec. 4 column “Dining is a work in progress” regarding Dining Services, we would like to clarify some of the points mentioned. We also would like to update students on the progress and efforts made to resolve those issues.
Satchmo’s was created as a gourmet deli lunch spot, with the option of late night expansion if the business merited the hours of operation. Like mentioned in the article, Satchmo’s is open Monday through Friday 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with later hours until 10:00 p.m. on Thursday and Friday evenings. This spring, Co-Curricular Programs, working in collaboration with Residential Life and student organizations, will schedule consistent, fun, late night activities which will ensure Satchmo’s later hours.
Secondly, Dining Services realized that some students have untraditional schedules and we have created a “to go” program allowing students to order lunch or dinner from the Orleans Room, 24 hours in advance. Simply visit our website www.loyno.edu/dining and click on “OR To Go.” Also if you have special dietary needs, we want to accomidate you. Contact Resident Dining Manager Marc Main at [email protected].
Lastly, Dining Services would love to be interviewed by the writer of the column, Garrett Cleland, so we can engage in a documented discussion about the topics mentioned about the Orleans Room. We believe there are necessary items to address and would love to teach the students about the business of dining services on university campuses.
The Orleans Room is committed to keeping the OR options fully available for entire hours of operation and we would love to receive suggestions as to what you would like to see as new menu items. Currently we have a comment board in the OR exactly for this purpose.
Sincerely,
Dining Services
