Over the years, music has influenced many cultures.
From giving them pride, to giving them hope, to giving them victories.
Music can change the mood and mindset of any person.
Music is powerful. It makes sense why there are so many music majors at Loyola.
When it comes to sports, music has that same effect.
The music played at our sporting events doesn’t suck, but is not for our generation of players.
If we want real participation from our Wolfpack nation, better music must be played.
You don’t want to be down in the fourth quarter and at a time-out, listening to Elvis.
No, you want to hear “Win” by D.J. Khaled, because that’s what is going to get the players and crowd in the mood.
So what if the other team likes the song too?
Good upbeat music helps to get the crowd pumped and the players excited as well.
I’m not saying that the music selection is the reason why we lose, but maybe a different selection of music could help liven-up things.
My expectation for this year is to raise the roof of the den!
It doesn’t need to be just rap or R&B but maybe pop music as well. This is a great way to get the whole Wolfpack nation involved in the game.
There are ways to get the whole community involved with the music. We should pick a theme song for each sport.
“Halftime (Stand Up and Get Crunk)” by the Ying Yang Twins keeps the Superdome filled with enthusiastic fans.
We should pick something that will get the fans enthused and ready to root for the pack.
Each team should sit down and pick one song to be theirs for the year. It’s a team sport and the fans are the support system.
We should hold a contest for each sport’s theme song as a way to get the whole Loyola community involved.
We have talent at Loyola. Get the play-list ready and pump up the volume.
