Stay fit during the school year with Disco Sculpt and a Yoga fitness class in the Sports Recreational Complex.
Lela Cloud Neff, pilates and yoga instructor, will be teaching classes throughout the semester.
Neff is helping students get in shape and out of stress with Disco Sculpt and Yoga.
Neff’s classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays starting with Disco Sculpt from 5-6 p.m. followed by yoga from 6-7 p.m. During these classes, Neff’s passion for yoga and disco are evident.
“I see a lot of good changes in flexibility with my students,” Neff said.
Neff also discussed how she is able to pass on her skills to her students as her yoga instructors did for her. “I’ve learned so much from my other yoga instructors,” Neff said. “They’ve worked with me on how to master my posture just as well as how I do with my students now.”
According to Neff, her classes are innately challenging and students should not expect new or different exercises this year. “To tell you the truth, the material in that class is challenging enough,” Neff said
However, Neff pointed out that her yoga and disco sculpting classes are two completely different experiences. “Disco Sculpt is more of a fun vanity class,” Neff said, “But for yoga, I hope students will have a deeper awareness of their body and emotions, since it’s a slower pace.”
“The music is key, which is why my class gets to listen to disco, rap, pop and R&B,” Neff said. “The music gives an incredible workout since my Disco Sculpt class is no joke.”
While Neff appreciates the music in her disco class, she also values the peacefulness surrounding her yoga class. “The peace in my yoga class is so neat, because you are able to see what your body can do,” Neff said.
“Loyola is the best school to vibe with people in a fitness class like no place else,” Neff said.
