Philosophy professor Dr. Jonathan Peterson shares his vision for Loyola’s future on Jan. 10, 2020. Peterson reflected on his journey to his position as the new University Honors Program director.

University honors program director Jonathan Peterson announced his departure from Loyola in an email to honors students on Nov. 29, 2023.

Peterson will finish out the fall term as director before associate professor Sean Cain assumes the position of interim director for the spring term. Cain is a professor in the department of political science.

The honors program will host a town hall meeting on Dec. 6 at 4:55 p.m. in Miller 114 for students to get acquainted with the interim director, Peterson said in the email.

Peterson said the search for a permanent director will take place in the spring, and honors students will have the opportunity to provide input on the new leadership and direction of the program during that process.

Peterson also expressed that teaching at Loyola the past 12 years has been a great privilege.

“The opportunity to direct the UHP and to work so closely with you has been the highlight of my time at Loyola, and it’s bittersweet to leave that behind,” he wrote.
