New Orleans local wins final rose from “The Bachelor”

Kelsey Anderson, a New Orleans local, received a final rose and engagement ring from Bachelor Joey Graziadei on the final episode of “The Bachelor” yesterday. Graziadei revealed he will move to New Orleans before the couple relocates to New York this summer.

Students gathered to watch the reveal of Graziadei’s choice between Anderson and contestant Daisy Kent. The final episode involved an unexpected twist in which Kent visited Anderson’s room before the reveal to express her doubt about her relationship with Graziadei and encourage Anderson before the proposal.

Loyola student Victoria Marino said she appreciated the portrayal of womanhood and friendship in the final episode.

“My reaction involved many tears; this was partially because, like Kelsey, I also lost a parent, so listening to Daisy’s comment about [Kelsey’s] mom looking over her really hit home,” Marino said. “Daisy just held herself with so much grace and was such an empowering reminder that reality TV shows like this don’t have to pit women against each other [or] mock them.”
