    Consistent habits lead to results

You’re a week into school now and you know what your schedule looks like.  If you have not already done so, make the gym part of your schedule now to ensure a full semester of consistency in working out.

True solid results don’t just come over night with a quick jog up some stairs and a week of dieting.  Ask a personal trainer to do a quick assessment in order for you to have knowledge on your starting point.  From there, you can set a weigh-in once a month to see your progress.

In fitness, little steps over time end up being giant leaps by the end of a benchmark.  This is the time to start thinking about beach season, not to mention lifetime fitness.
If you honestly want to see dramatic results by spring break, start now.  If you eat well with a three hundred calorie deficit per day and stick to a basic work out routine, you will start losing about two pounds of unwanted weight per week, the healthy way.  Depending on your dedication, those weeks of weight loss add up fast; exponentially if you are consistent.

Dining Services is doing great things by making healthy choices in the Orleans Room very simple.  By color-coding their menu selections, you can make healthy eating choices without really thinking.  Green is healthy, yellow is in the middle, and red is your high calorie choices.

An easy meal plan is to pick two greens, a yellow and minimal serving of red.  It cannot get any easier for you, so there are absolutely no excuses.

If you are trying to gain weight, work really hard in the weight room and eat more yellows and a few green. The reds are bad for muscle growth.  Like always, the Athletics and Wellness Department offers certified personal training sessions for a small fee and free fitness classes excluding Pilates and Yoga which require a registration fee.

This semester with Dining Services and Residential Life, the gym is launching the Wolfpack Fit Club campaign.  The best way to reach your goals is with support from friends and a little “healthy” competition.  This is a great deal— you and your friends get a good deal on personal training for six weeks.

You’re obviously competing against yourself, but also within your group and against the other teams.

At the end of the six week training program, you can win some great prizes and see some easily obtained results.

If interested in any of these fitness services, stop by the gym and ask for the Wellness Director, Kristi Salvagio. You can also e-mail any questions about registrations, costs, prizes and deadlines to [email protected].
