We recognize the tuition payment and financial aid process is cumbersome, and recent tuition reminder emails caused concern for some students. We want to provide some clarification.
Messages were only sent to students whose accounts reflected a balance for the Spring 2026 semester. In many cases, the balance was due to outstanding financial aid requirements, such as accepting offered loans, completing required promissory notes, or maintaining full-time enrollment. Once these requirements were completed, eligible financial aid was applied to the student account.
Some students may have requirements that necessitate additional support from the Office of Financial Aid. All students are encouraged to access Self-Service, under the Financial Aid section, to review any outstanding requirements.
These communications are part of the University’s regular process to help students stay on track with payments before deadlines that could impact registration. We want to help students avoid unmanageable balances and allow the University to plan and budget in ways that best meet the needs of our students, faculty and staff.
Account details, anticipated aid and payment options can be reviewed through LORA Self-Service in the Student Finance section. Students who need additional support should contact Financial Aid at 504.865.3231 or [email protected], or the Bursar’s Office at 504.865.2388 or [email protected].
