The Student Government Association has devoted its Fall 2006 semester to projects that will benefit students more in their everyday lives.
“I think SGA far surpassed the work it had done in previous semesters done to help students on campus. Every single member of Congress either spearheaded or took part in a project that will concretely help students on campus,” said SGA Vice President Bob Payne, political science junior.
SGA members have devoted themselves to at least 14 separate projects in a variety of areas. These projects include working closely with Information Technology to create a more functional University-wide calendar on the main webpage, which has lead to many more events being listed and publicized. SGA has helped to get faster, more efficient computers for the chemistry labs in Monroe Hall.
SGA has distributed more than $6,000 in Community Development Funds to programs, charitable events and fund-raisers of a service nature that alleviate social ills and promote social justice in the New Orleans Area.
