Tie-dye is back; brighter and bolder than ever — even in winter.

Chi Alpha , Loyola’s Christian fellowship group, kept this belief as they dipped t-shirts in a barrage of rainbows Wednesday and laid them to dry in the cold winter air.

The organization hosted their first tie-dye and game night in the Peace Quad, and though the event had a meager turnout due to late planning, those that did come to tie-dye their tees and eat a few snacks seemed to enjoy themselves.

Chi Alpha president and chemistry junior Azebe Amare said that the organization hosted the event because “people need time to break away from school, and tie-dye is always a fun thing to do.”

Despite 41 degree weather, members of Chi Alpha brought their buckets of warm water, tie-dye supplies, and chips and salsa and set up shop across from the Monroe Library.

“It is fun to see people creating fun fashions and seeing them actually wearing it,” said Symea Solomon, Chi Alpha member and history senior.

Students will have more opportunities to attend Chi Alpha’s events— the organization will be hosting game nights, as well as prayer groups that discuss topics such as freedom.

The members meet once a week in either a guys or girls only group, and then meet at a big group the following week, said Amare.

Chi  Alpha  Christian Fellowship chapters from both Loyola and Tulane will sponsor a major event with guest speaker Francis Collins. The lecture focuses on Collins’ views on the fusion of science and religion.  The lecture will be held at Tulane’s McAlister Auditorium on Wed. Feb. 4 at 7 p.m.
