Revisions, Loyola’s free, student-produced magazine, held its first meeting of the year on Sept. 2.
Revisions magazine is comprised of creative writing, poetry, photography, and art.
Tuesday’s meeting was presided over by Revisions faculty advisor Chris Chambers.
Chambers said he wants to have new, young student writers come to share their work.
At the meeting, he said, “it is important to represent all the student body in this publication because it is [the students’] magazine.”
The goal of this student-produced magazine is to provide a forum in which students can develop their own artistic works and critical thinking.
Because Revisions is student-produced and comprised of student work,
Revisions also is a magazine to which Loyola students can look to find and enjoy each other’s work.
Erica Ciccarone, English writing senior, has submitted her work to Revisions.
“I actually got an e-mail from a professor telling me he liked my story,” she said.
“Revisions really is a good start for writers.”
Nicole Fitz Rawlins said that she has been working on a fiction story and wants “to perfect it in order to have it published in Revisions.”
“Revisions represents the school and its creative works. It is an opportunity to get published, it is good for your resume and you share your work with the student body.”
Students who are interested in submitting their work should do so in the English office.
Guidelines for submissions will be determined by the end of this month.
Those who did not attend the meeting and would like to be part of the staff should contact Chambers.
The next meeting will be announced through a campus e-mail.
“You will not just be making the magazine , but getting to know each other and learning from each other,” Chambers said.
Revisions comes out annually (the magazine was first published in 1990).
You can get a copy of last year’s publication of Revisions on the third floor of Bobet.
