Julian Wasserman, English professor, is being treated at Touro Hospital’s intensive care unit for an ear infection which progressed to pneumonia.
Wasserman was admitted last Wednesday, according to his wife, Susan Larson, and though he had not been released as of press time, she said. “He’s doing very well.”
“A lot of it is due to the wonderful support he feels from the Loyola community,” she said.
Wasserman joined the Loyola faculty in 1985. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt, a master’s from Southern Methodist University and a Ph.D. from Rice. Though he is unable to field calls or visits from well-wishers, Wasserman and his family did express their thanks for prayers for his quick recovery.
Larson stresses that he cannot receive fresh flowers, fruits, vegetables or visitors but that O-positive blood donors are needed. Call Touro hospital at 897-7011 to donate.
