Marjorie Bilinski considered not joining the women’s basketball team when she decided to attend Loyola..
She debated between further developing her volleyball skills or sticking with basketball, which she had been playing since her father taught her the game at age 10.
Fortunately for coach DoBee Plaisance and the ‘Pack, Bilinski chose mesh shorts over spandex. She racked up her 1,000th point in a 53-44 win over Belhaven College at The Den on Feb. 16.
Despite putting in three hours of practice, interning with Loyola Admissions and studying to maintain her Ignatian Scholarship, Marj, as she is known by her teammates, is a self-proclaimed “fun-loving girl that just likes to be busy doing things and meeting new people.”
Her teammates adhere to her exemplary philosophy and perspective on life. Fellow captain and 1,000-point scorer Kiely Schork, communications junior, recalled the best basketball advice Marj ever gave her was “just play hard and have fun.”
