To get allocated money from Student Government Association this fall, organizations will need to submit a paperless form on Orgsync.
At the President’s Council meeting on Thursday, Sept. 12, Logan McCabe, SGA’s vice president of finance and economics senior, talked to student organizations about the new process.
Allocations is the process in which student organizations request funding from student government to hold events and activities. In the past, student organization presidents would fill out forms and hand deliver them to the student government office for approval.
Through OrgSync, all of the forms are paperless.
Student organization presidents can access the forms through student government’s OrgSync portal.
Jasmine Barnes, organization president and mass communication senior, and McCabe said that the organization wanted to uphold last year’s goal of sustainability as established by Khaled Badr, A’13 and 2012- 2013 Student Government Association president.
“Just to keep up with Khaled’s initiatives of sustainability, we are trying to go as paper free as we can,” Barnes said.
The organziation tried to implement the process onto OrgSync last spring, according to McCabe.
“We found that we still needed to familiarize ourselves with it, so we put that off until this fall,” McCabe said.
McCabe said that the organization wants to assist organization presidents if they need help throughout this new process.
“We want every student on this campus to be familiar with OrgSync and be able to use it without any stumbles,” McCabe said.
McCabe said that he thinks OrgSync brings more benefits to the process than just going online.
“It’s going to make communication between myself, the finance committee, and organizations a lot more seamless and smoother. It’s getting everything in one place,” McCabe said.
