Mario Faranda, the Wolfpack’s leading rebound, soars over Moile defenders and scores a reverse layup at The Den earlier this season. He hurt his left knee against Dillard on Feb. 8 and now has the flu.

While injured Wolfpack forward Nick Tuszynski, general business freshman, is recovering from a twisted right ankle in an orderly manner, teammate Mario Faranda’s left knee injury sustained against Dillard on Feb. 3 at The Den has been complicated by his contracting the flu.

“He has yet to go to the doctor,” sports information director Brett Simpson, A ’96, said.

“Tuszynski will be okay. He’s still on crutches but he’ll be ready for Thursday,” Simpson added.

Loyola (4-17, 1-10 GCAC) will face fifth place Tougaloo on Feb. 8 in Mississippi.

Both forwards are typically the Wolfpack’s front-court starters and sustained injuries on the defensive end in the second half of their game against Dillard.

Faranda, finance junior, averages a team-high 6.3 rebounds a game and is the team’s second best scorer with 12.1 points a game. Tusyznski leads the team with 12 blocks and averages 4.3 points a game.
