Dear Editor,
(In response to Philip Dynia’s response “Dynia critical of Bournes’ response”) Have you considered the reason why every Republican and 11 members of the Democratic caucus in the House of Representatives voted against the stimulus package was because it had more pork than a German deli?
Two hundred million dollars for contraceptives and sexually transmitted disease research in high school, $18 billion for CEO salary bonuses, $600 million for new cars for the government … ? These are only a few examples.
I don’t know if its scarier that my grandchildren will be paying for this, or the fact that enough people like you are out there to defend it.
When Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., of all people threatens to vote against this package, even Stevie Wonder can see there’s something wrong with this bill.
Also, thanks for the personal attack. I’m sure that to people who follow your political ideology I am indeed “woefully ignorant”.
Unfortunate enough for you, however, I didn’t see your remarks, go into a corner and fall into submission.
You see, in your attempt to publicly embarrass me you have instead made yourself look like an angry high school freshman. You wrote your column, and by doing so you put yourself out there for criticism.
If my “letter to the editor” offends you so dearly, then I apologize. Next time I’ll be sure to not voice my opinion so I don’t hurt any feelings. How silly of me to assume I had the right to respond to an article I didn’t agree with. Next time, I’ll talk about the weather.
And one final note … the quote you gave was incorrect.
It goes: “If you aren’t a liberal when you’re 20, you don’t have a heart; if you aren’t a conservative when you’re 60, you don’t have a brain.” It’s rumored to have been said by Sir Winston Churchill. You twisted and adulterated it for your own use …. strike!
Perhaps next time you’ll use a quote every Johnny and his uncle doesn’t know.
Sincerely,
Chris Bournes
