Andrea Castillo has written a very nice article on my appointment in your last issue, and I would like to congratulate her.

The headline of the article and the caption of the picture, however, do not reflect my actual position, which, as Castillo noted in the article, is as the dean of humanities and natural sciences.

In my short time thus far as dean of humanities and natural sciences, I have worked hard to represent the natural sciences, and I am grateful to chairs and colleagues of the science departments for their support and to Professor Maria Calzada for her role as liaison between my office and the sciences.

Therefore, it was disappointing to read in both the headline and the caption that I was the humanities dean and not the humanities and natural sciences dean, although it is the case that I hail from the humanities.
