SGA will be administering spring allocations for Loyola student organizations’ Feb. 1.
Loyola-chartered clubs need to apply for funds by Jan. 29 using the forms found on SGA’s Web site.
SGA held informational meetings for organizations interested in receiving allocations. Representatives from organizations were required to attend at least one meeting to be considered for allocations.
‘Basically, we hold informational meetings to tell organizations what allocations is, where to download the application forms, how to fill them out correctly and how/where to submit them,’ said SGA vice president and English junior Maria Rossi.
Before applying for allocations, organizations wishing to receive funding must provide information on their projects for the semester and prove the projects will take place by including documents such as receipts of expenses. Forms for this additional information are available online and were given at informational meetings.
Rossi said that projects such as a dinner or speaker require more forms and more extensive proof of purchases. Compensation checks may be available for organizations that prove they need previous funding for their project to take place, such as paying a speaker beforehand.
Organizations that have any incorrect information, are missing some documentation or are denied for any reason may still receive funding.
‘We always set aside an amount of money for post-allocations, which is exactly the same as the regular allocations process only the budget is smaller,’ Rossi said.
Rossi said that during the semester, organizations can request a legislation for funds from any SGA senator to pay for a new project.
‘Most recently, the Student Reserves Fund was used to fund a raffle prize for the MLK Day of Service event, last weekend.’ Rossi said in an e-mail.
Rossi added that the SGA senate decided to allocate $700.00 for the raffle prize.
This year, SGA will post results of approved funding on their website and by e-mail to individual organizations.
Appeals to allocations may be made, but there are additional forms required for this process. The appeals meeting will be held Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. in the Organization Hub in the Danna Center.
Appeals are due in electronic and print form Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. The results of appeals made will be posted by Feb. 11 at 11 p.m.
