Thanks to Tara Templeton for a well-balanced, informative article on the American Association of University Professors censure of Loyola University New Orleans (“A bump on the ‘Path,'” Aug. 31, 2007).

I would like to make a clarification. When Ms. Templeton asked me whether the University Rank and Tenure Committee had an official or an unofficial position on the matter, I answered in the negative.

I also said that my responses to her questions were from my personal point of view as a Loyola faculty member and as a member of the AAUP. As such, it would have been more accurate to describe me in the article not as URTC chair but as associate professor from the mathematics and computer science department, and as AAUP member.

I also want to commend the paper for the Editorial in the same issue (Aug. 31, 2007). It was right on target. Well done!
