Maria Rossi, Student Government Association senator and English writing sophomore, created Talk Loyola, a new group on Facebook with the intent to discuss issues that are relevant to the university’s community.
Rossi hopes to provide an open forum for Loyola students and faculty. It is based on a similar Facebook group that was active during the past school year, Loyola Chat.
Rossi believes that it will give students an opportunity to communicate their opinions to SGA to help effectively serve the university.
“I really encourage other senators to check the discussions,” she said.
Through the group, Rossi plans to send out updates every two weeks about issues that are being discussed. She waited until she had at least 100 members before she began sending the updates. As of Wednesday, there are 169 members, including a number of professors.
Talk Loyola is not just for current issues, she said, but for all subjects that concern the school.
“It’s a forum to talk about anything Loyola-related,” she said.
