When “Women and Men Take Back the Night” took over the Marquette Hall horseshoe for its 16th year, attendees lit candles and marched in unity to Tulane’s Rogers Chapel to share stories and show support for sexual assault survivors.
Students from Loyola and Tulane attended, along with survivor speakers and support organizations. These programs provide support and medical assistance to victims of sexual assault.
Staff counselor and event organizer Ilyse Goldberg, “Anyone who has had an experience with assault can feel empowered with rallies of support.
“Students who know someone who has gone through this have a symbolic unity around it. Other students who don’t know that much about sexual assault will be informed and will be able to be more aware of it.”
This is Goldberg’s second year organizing “Women and Men Take Back the Night,” and she said she appreciates the support from both the Loyola and Tulane communities.
