In the past two weeks Congress has chartered a number of new organizations. The Bak Shaolin Eagle Claw Kung Fu Club received its charter. The club’s purpose is to allow those who are interested to train and compete in kung fu. The Libertarian Club also received a charter. In addition to the already existing Loyola Republicans and Democrats, the Libertarian Club offers a third option of association with a political party. Incidentally its constitution is currently based on that of the Klingons from Star Trek.
Congress also chartered a Volleyball Club; open to all who are interested in playing. The final charter went to Loyola’s Health Occupations Club. This was the most widely contested charter, as some members of Congress were concerned that the club was not significantly different from Medical Mission Aid Society. Nevertheless, the Health Occupations Club was voted into existence. It seeks to provide information to students who are not interested in pursuing a medical degree about the other health fields available to them upon graduation.
