In response to low voter turn out, the Student Government Association has decided to move the polls off of Blackboard.
Mara Steven, SGA chief justice, said voter turn out in the past has only been about 17 percent and SGA thinks that a physical polling place could help remedy the situation.
Steven said that the Blackboard polling has caused difficulty for voters in past elections.
“We are fortunate to have access to official polling booths this year, eliminating any technological errors that have caused problems in the past from Blackboard elections,” she said.
Steven also said that the students should feel confident about the security of their vote since the polling places will be closely watched.
“The polling booths will be monitored by no less than three staff at all times, so that students can feel confident that their ballot is cast in secret,” she said.
SGA president Khaled Badr said that the polls will be located in the One Loyola Room in the Danna Center.
