So I’m back typing live from wolfpack headquaters, The Den (the gym for those who missed the first lesson). Much has gone on since my first visit, and of course me being the person that I am, I’m going to catch all who need it up to speed.
Fall sports have begun, and although a solid prediction for the ‘Packs season can’t be made just yet, I can say it’s looking promising. Let’s start first with Loyola’s most overlooked sport, cross country.
The men and women who make up Loyola’s cross country team opened their season with a meet hosted by the ‘Pack at Lafreniere Park this past Saturday.
Just to refresh your memory, it was pouring last Saturday , and cross country is an outdoor sport. Cross Country + rain + grassy area = muddy nightmare. So that’s probably why I’m writing and not running.
Anyway, the rain didn’t stop the women from finishing strong. They left the meet with muddy shoes and clothes but also the first place title.
Shout out to women’s freshmen runner Hannah Dougherty. She placed fourth in the meet and with this being her collegiate debut, during a torrential down pour, not bad … not bad at all.
The men, although they did not place, still laid a solid foundation for what they have to offer this season, but, no shot outs for them. However, Head Coach Andy Canegitta does get a shout for hosting a great meet, and keeping everything on schedule.
Moving on. So I’m sure it’s been hard for you ‘Pack loving fans to come out and support the maroon and gold with them performing off campus. Well that is coming to an end soon, real soon, like Tuesday soon.
Loyola volleyball will be serving it up on Tuesday in The Den at 7 p.m. and it’s the first game, tell your friends, and tell them to tell their friends. We have to pack The Den, as a testament to your Wolfpack Pride.
Also, those maroon platoon shirts that you got this week, wear that to the game and get discounts at the concession stand.
So I’ve been thinking of how I can raise awareness about the events going on in the world of athletics in a way that’s easy to read and more effective. I came up with BOLO BOLO.
So I stole the term from University Police, this is true, but I cited them so it’s not plagiarism and BOLO BOLO is just so darn catchy I had to use it.
Anyway, I am going to close my column with a BOLO (a set of things you should “be on the look out” for). Here we go.
BOLO BOLO: One, the first game in The Den is on Tuesday, at 7 p.m. Don’t miss it.
Two, Havoc is a loose a canon and on game day he will be all over, he will mess with you, you’ve been warned.
Three, Gina Gill (volleyball player) is something serious so Belhaven better BOLO! Until next time, Go Pack!
