Loyola’s projected number of incoming freshman this fall, 687, is the highest since Hurricane Katrina. This is the number of high school seniors that sent in a nonrefundable deposit, much higher than the 453 that sent in deposits last year, according to a May 12 Times-Picayune article.
Although Loyola accepts checks after the May 1 deadline, and although a deposit does not always indicate a guaranteed commitment, university administrators use these numbers as a guide for dining services, dorms and classes, according to The Times-Picayune article.
Loyola hoped to get deposits from 600 prospective freshmen. Tulane and Xavier universities also surpassed their goals for the fall term, Tulane receiving 1,601 deposits and Xavier receiving 980, said the article.
“I’m very excited,” recent interim dean of admissions and enrollment management, Lori Zawistowski, told the Times-Picayune.
