Legendary jazz trumpeter Louis Armstrong performed on many a stage during his reigning career, and now Loyola’s brand new eatery, Satchmo’s is furnished with its own stage and is waiting for the next round of greats to pop out of the Wolfpack.
Located in the former Underground area in the Danna Center, Satchmo’s will host a variety of student talent every Tuesday and Thursday during the 12:30-2:00 p.m. window, including music (both bands and solo acts), DJ’s, stand-up comedy, spoken word, poetry, monologues, fire breathers, chainsaw jugglers, you name it.
Those interested in performing are invited to attend an open audition from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. this Saturday, August 30 in Satchmo’s. Of those who are selected, the best of the best will even be given an opportunity to perform during the Thursday and Friday late night time slots, for which they will be paid for their efforts.
So don’t forget to mark your calendars and come audition. In addition to those selected to perform during the Thursday and Friday time slots, there will also be rotating activities, including movie nights, karaoke, performances by local comedians and musicians and every third Thursday, a concert by the jazz studies students.
