University operations were successfully suspended Thursday, and the campus was fully evacuated Saturday morning, said the Rev. Kevin Wildes, S.J., university president, in an email to the Loyola community.
About 15 students were unable to schedule a safe evacuation plan. The university moved them to a church in Baton Rouge, where they’re under the protection of residential life.
Loyola activated its recovery center in Dallas and will have email and Web capacity, said Wildes.
University payroll will also continue, he said.
When Hurricane Gustav makes landfall, the university will decide when people can return to campus and when operations will resume, he said.
The Maroon will continue to follow this story as more details become available.
