    Biguenet, “Sylvia” gets award nods

The Big Easy Awards will honor Loyola English professor John Biguenet as “Theater Person of the Year” on March 24 at Harrah’s Casino. They will also recognize the Loyola production “Sylvia” as one of three “Best University Productions.”

Biguenet drew attention with his drama “Rising Water,” a story of a married couple stranded on their roof in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Several cities – soon to include London – have produced the play and it was recently nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.

Theater Arts instructor Benjamin Clement directed Loyola’s “Sylvia.” The play starred drama junior Patrick Anthony, mass communication senior Anna Toujas and drama sophomore Rebecca Hollingsworth.
