Loyola receives $120,000 from state for endowed chairs

Loyola received $120,000 in matching funds from the state of Louisiana for professorships from the Louisiana Educational Quality Support Fund, according to university press release.

The money will be equally distributed to the A. Louis Read Distinguished Professorship in Communications, the Michaelle Pitard Wynne Distinguished Professorship III in Law, and the Ted and Louana Froois Distinguished Professorship in International Law Studies. These three funds are now fully endowed at $100,000 each.

The newly endowed professorship funds will provide money for the selected faculty members to enhance teaching, research and scholarly activities.

The purpose of the endowed chairs for eminent scholars programs is to create stronger economic development ties between the private sector and higher education. To create endowed chairs, schools must raise 60 percent of the cost from private sources.
