SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) – Six people were crushed to death or suffered fatal heart attacks after a magnitude 8.2 earthquake struck Chile’s northern coast April 2.
The earthquake caused landslides, knocked out power for thousands, damaged an airport and provoked fires that destroyed several businesses.
In addition to the six deaths that were reported, authorities say that it is possible other people were killed in older structures made of adobe in remote communities that weren’t immediately accessible.
