A rape, two car thefts, an armed robbery, a hit-and-run, a bike theft and three separate book thefts occurred in the university area in the last two weeks.
Rape
A Tulane student was robbed and raped Feb. 24 at 5 a.m. The student was abducted from St. Charles Avenue and taken to Audubon Park where she was robbed and raped. The suspect then fled down the street.
Car theft
Two cars were stolen in the university area. One was stolen Feb. 27 on the 400 block of Fern Street. The other was stolen Feb. 21 on the 4500 block of South Robertson Street.
Armed robbery
Someone was robbed at gunpoint on Feb. 28 at around 6 p.m. at the corner of Valence and LaSalle streets. Three men approached the victim. One of the men then kicked the individual in the back. A second man pointed a handgun at the victim before the third went through the victim’s pockets and stole the contents. The men then fled down the street
Hit-and-run
A student reported a hit-and-run in West Road Garage Feb. 27. University Police is investigating the incident.
Bike theft
A bike was reported as stolen Feb. 22 from the West Road Garage bike rack. According to University Police Capt. Roger Pinac, the theft occurred some time since winter break.
Theft
Two thefts occurred in the Loyola book store. Two books were believed stolen on March 2. According to Pinac, a suspect was identified. A warrant for the suspect’s arrest is in progress. Two books were also stolen Feb. 27. UP is investigating both thefts.
A book was stolen from the second floor of the Monroe Library March 1.
