Students will be able to record their opinions on the plus/minus system next week.
There will be a booth set up Monday through Wednesday, and, if necessary, Thursday, in front of the Danna Center for students to voice their opinions on the plus/minus system.
There will be a bulleted answers sheet available at the booth for students to read and become more informed about what the system entails and what will happen if it is implemented.
Also, campus emails will be sent out, other advertisements about voting will be posted throughout campus, and all Student Government Association members will be available for information about the issue.
This process is an opinion poll for Bobby Hjortsberg, psychology/pre-med junior and SGA President of the College of Arts and Sciences, to find out what the students want.
Hjortsberg says he would like to “emphasize the importance of students voting to make their voice heard.”
He said he will use the statistical information he receives from the results of the poll to determine which position he will be fighting for at the next A&S college assembly meeting.
“However, the students vote is what I’ll support,” he said.
The final decision will be made during the A&S meeting. However, Hjortsberg said, “If the Arts and Sciences College votes the plus/minus system through, it is only a recommendation.”
Other colleges will also have to make a decision.
If the plus/minus system makes it through all the steps for it to be passed, then it will be implemented in fall 2003, he said.
