Audubon Park Trail + Workout Circuits

Even if you’ve only so much as toured Loyola, you’ve probably taken a stroll through New Orleans’ beautiful Audubon Park. Like the ‘Central Park,’ of Uptown, the park stretches from St. Charles Ave. all the way to the ‘muddy Mississippi.’

Half of the park features a circular running and/or biking trail, which stretches 1.8 miles around. Runners, bikers, power-walkers and rollerbladers path begins in between the illuminated Roman arches erected beside the ‘Audubon Park,’ sign at the park’s St. Charles Ave. entrance.

Around this loop, you will find six stations of aerobic apparatuses on the side of the trail. Installed in these workout stations are fixtures such as pull-up bars and tricep dip racks. So grab a bike or some running shoes, and get out there!


Bike around City Park

While City Park, a celebrated jewel of the ‘Crescent City,’ is around five miles from campus, it’s worth the hike. Grab your bicycle on a nice day, and head over there for a beautiful excursion. Seeing the centuries-old oak trees, sculptures, ponds and local monuments should compensate for the park’s considerable distance from campus.

The park contains four miles of bike paths, one of which takes you from Bayou St. John to Lake Pontchartrain. Plus, if you don’t have a bike, bikes can be rented at the park’s boat house, starting at a $9 hourly fee.
