The Student Government Association Congress passed President Daniel Green’s appointments to external committees, such as Dining Services, and the judicial review, which can now function with student input. The congress also approved its budget, which must be approved before the allocation process can take place.
SGA also plans to work with the new Vice President of Student Affairs and Associate Provost, Marcia Petty, Ph.D., to address student issues, such as women’s health concerns. Additionally SGA is planning to address shuttle service schedules and the availability of 24-hour computer labs.
This semester the university has cut back operating hours in the Monroe Library computer labs. The current midnight closing time is a consequence of fewer university police officers, making it difficult for university police to monitor computers and students, according to university officials. SGA is working to have representatives address this issue and work on a resolution.
