Watch and Stream: August 26
School’s back in play for the fall, and the fun never stops when it comes to some new viewing entertainment. Here are the films and TV shows to watch and stream next week. Also, be sure to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines and take extra precautions when going to a movie theater.
Candyman
Whatever you do, don’t say his name. The direct sequel to the 1992 horror classic is directed by Nia DaCosta and produced by Jordan Peele through his Monkeypaw Productions. “Candyman” returns to a now-gentrified Chicago, as a struggling visual artist (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) discovers the truth behind the urban legend.
“Candyman” is now available in theaters.
He’s All That
The gender-swapped remake of the 1999 teen rom-com classic “She’s All That” stars Tiktok star Addison Rae and “Cobra Kai” actor Tanner Buchanan. Rae plays a teen influencer who accepts a challenge to turn the least popular boy in her high school (Buchanan) into prom king after her humiliating fallout with her boyfriend.

Only Murders in the Building
Hulu presents a new comedy series from comedian Steve Martin. He stars with Selena Gomez and Martin Short as three strangers who share an affinity for true crime and find themselves investigating one.
“Only Murders in the Building” premieres August 31 on Hulu.
Top Spin
The 2014 documentary follows three teenage table tennis players Ariel Hsing, Michael Landers, and Lily Zhang as they compete at the 2012 Summer Olympics. The documentary became critically acclaimed in several film festivals, including the Los Angeles Asian Film Festival and the Nashville Film Festival.

Chaos Walking
“Spider-Man” actor Tom Holland and “Star Wars” alum Daisy Ridley star in the adventure sci-fi film from director Doug Liman. Set in a dystopian future where there are no women and men cannot have inner thoughts, a young man (Holland) must protect a mysterious woman (Ridley) from sinister forces.

The Courier
Benedict Cumberbatch stars in the 2020 historical spy film based on a true story. He plays British businessman Greville Wynne, who was recruited by British intelligence to deliver secret messages to Soviet secret agent Oleg Penkovsky in the 1960s. “The Courier” also stars Rachel Brosnahan and Jessie Buckley.

Magic Mike XXL
The 2015 comedy-drama stars Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Kevin Nash and Joe Manganiello as former male strippers collectively known as the Kings of Tampa. Set three years after the events of 2012’s “Magic Mike,” they reunite and travel to Myrtle Road Beach for one last performance.
