Mural of Connie Jones outside of renovated band hall, made possible by Jones’ endowment. A concert honoring his memory will be held in Nunemaker Auditorium on Sept. 19, 2023.

Editor’s Note: This story has been updated to reflect the correct donor of the endowment.

The Connie Jones Legacy Band, comprised of members who played alongside Connie Jones, a long-time supporter of Loyola’s music programs, will be performing in a concert honoring Jones’ memory. The concert will be in Nunemaker Auditorium on Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

Jones’ daughter, Phyllis Conces, along with Guy Conces, gifted the university a $1 million endowment upon his passing to host a traditional jazz concert series every fall and spring. This gift also funded renovations to the band hall, which will be available to music students for years to come.

Tickets can be purchased here.
