Locals gathered near the University of New Orleans lakefront to enjoy a variety of fried chicken dishes from over 50 New Orleans vendors, whether it was served on a stick, between two buns, with some fries, or with a simple side of jambalaya. The event featured popular Uptown establishments like Chicken and Watermelon.
The vendors competed for prizes like the “best use of fried chicken in a dish,” won by Bao Mi, a Vietnamese restaurant, and the coveted “best fried chicken” award won by Red Bird Fried Chicken at the end of the festival.
Festival-goers enjoyed live music and crowded around the stage while eating their fried chicken dishes, including performances by Big Freedia and celebrating 50 years of HipHop with DJ Jubilee, Mannie Fresh and Partners-N-Crime, a car show presented by HotCarsTV.
Companies like Crown Royale, Stella Artois, Louisiana Fish Fry Company, Entergy, Heinz and Canes sponsored the event with lounges with interactive experiences around the festival.
