What you wear can say much about what kind of person you are and how much confidence you exude. It is the first impression you make. The basis behind what people put on in the morning tells much about their current lifestyle, their attitudes, and their overall approach to life.
Living on a college campus allows you to see varying degrees of fashion. There are some students who just rolled out of bed and went to class while others carefully pull outfits together every morning. Other students have spent all night in the library and have the clothes on from the night before. Still others have on t-shirts that show their different affiliations with clubs and Greek life.
Fashion has the ability bring peers together or separate generations. The attitude or lifestyle that you have can be seen as a first impression by the kind of clothes you wear.
While fashion does have power over the first impression, a confident attitude can make most outfits reflect the impression wanted. Confidence is not always easy, but with a few secrets of personal style it can be attainable.
The first way to show versatility in what you wear is to pair dressy pieces with more laid-back items. A pair of heels can instantly change a day look to a night look, or a pair of flip-flops can transform a dressy skirt. A nice blazer can make casual jeans and a shirt into going out attire.
The second tip for personal style is finding the best part of your body and emphasizing it to help bring forth confidence. If you like your legs, wear short, flirty skirts; or, if you like your neck, find scooped neck shirts or blouses. Placing emphasis on a certain body part can detract attention from parts that you might not be as confident about and allow you to feel happy about how you look.
Boosting confidence can also be achieved by accessorizing. Accessories can pull an outfit together immediately. They can be trendy and cheap or simple and expensive. An accessory adds to an outfit and your style personality. Accessories give you the ability to adapt outfits as trends change and make a style your own.
Confidence is the key to finding a perfect wardrobe to give off the impression you want. Whether it is the “I don’t care” look or “fashionista straight off the runway” or the over-involved student, style does not really matter as long as an attitude of self-confidence and happiness with yourself are more important than anything you can actually wear.
The psychology behind the styles that people choose can be a fascinating study, but you must keep in mind that as long as they have the confidence and satisfaction that what they are wearing is good, then most outfits can look good. Inner confidence is different for everyone. Whatever you wear, good fashion is made by confidence.
