Loyola University New Orleans has moved to remote operations for Feb. 23 following a water main break on Claiborne Avenue and Toledano Street, causing low water pressure and a boil water advisory for the Uptown area.
According to an email sent to Loyola University students, the academic and administrative buildings will be closed to all people except for essential personnel. Residential students will receive separate communication regarding campus dining hours and other essential information.
The transition to remote learning has had an impact on Loyola students.
Some students expressed dissatisfaction with the change to remote learning as it does not align with their ideal way of learning.
“I was happy that I wouldn’t have to make the commute into the city but remote classes aren’t my preferred way to learn,” said Emma Grace Condon, a senior neuroscience major.
Additionally, due to the low water pressure, the boiler system has been taken offline to prevent damage. As a result, hot water and heat were unavailable on the main campus at the time this article was published.
