A male intruder entered four rooms of Buddig Hall at approximately 5 a.m. on April 1, according to Loyola University Police Chief Patrick Bailey.
The residents of the rooms asked not to be quoted. In all four cases, there was no physical damage done to a person or property, and there was no sexual assault. The residents asked the male what he was doing in the room, and the male responded that he was in the wrong room.
In one incident the male told the victim, “You should lock your door.”
According to LUPD, the male in question is thought to be a Loyola student.
Bailey told students to lock their doors and to “protect yourself and your things.”
If an intruder manages to find a way into your room, scream and do what ever you can to alert the people around you, Bailey said. The earliest call to LUPD was 40 minutes after the incident. All other calls regarding the incident were made the next day. Calling LUPD can reduce the time frame and help officers to find the intruder.
This information was relayed at the Buddig Hall Town Meeting on April 3.
In addition to the advice from Bailey, Lt. Angela Honora spoke about ways to communicate with LUPD, such as the Silent Witness program, a service provided by LUPD, which allows students to submit information to LUPD anonymously.
