Even though the Christmas lights are on across the city, it looked more like Halloween Tuesday night after a heavy layer of fog settled over much of New Orleans.
The fog rolled in Tuesday afternoon, reducing visibility to less than a quarter of a mile, according to the National Weather Service, and prompting a dense fog advisory which will be in effect until 9 a.m. Wednesday.
A combination of clearing skies, light winds and low level moisture that followed an afternoon thunderstorm are the reason for the fog, according to the weather service.
