The Thelonius Monk Institute of Jazz will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a gala in Washington, D.C., on Sept. 11-12. Jazz greats like Aretha Franklin, Terence Blanchard, Ellis Marsalis and several others will be in attendance. There will be a jazz piano competition between three international finalists vying for their chance at scholarships and a recording contract with Concord Music Group. The Monk Institute retains its ties to Loyola through community outreach programs.
