The university is donating $500 toward a program that will plant native trees in order to help restore coastal Louisiana.
In addition, the university will plant 20 new trees around Monroe Hall as part of the building’s landscaping plan.
These actions are taking place due to the university’s cutting down the century-old oak tree Oct. 17 so Monroe could continue its expansion.
