After robbing a man and opening fire on police officers on the 2500 block of Palmer Street, Jamon Vaughn was arrested by members of Tulane University Police Department, the NOPD and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The robbery took place around 5 a.m., as the victim sat on his front porch. Vaughn, armed with a handgun, demanded the victim’s money, cellphone and car keys. As Vaughn forced the victim to his car, the victim spotted the police, threw his television at Vaughn and ran away.
Vaughn fired several shots at two Tulane police officers, who did not return fire, retreated and waited for backup.
After an extensive search, Vaughn was apprehended by Jefferson Parish’s K-9 Unit on 2526 State St. He sustained and was treated for a dog bite.
