So sad that the Maroon (along with the administration, faculty, students, and apparently the Society of Jesus) completely sidesteps the controversy involved with performing the Vagina Monologues at Loyola, and instead prints what appears to be a press release from the Women’s Issues organization.
Perhaps the Maroon could have pointed out the plays many references to lesbianism, casual sex, or even the monologue in which a 24-year old woman gets a 16-year old girl drunk, then seduces her. Yes, it all sounds so “empowering.” I’m sure St. Ignatius would shout “Ad Majorem Gloriam!” after seeing the play.
Kudos to all, from the administration on down, for promoting this nonsense. When is Loyola finally going to stop calling itself Catholic?
Sincerely,
