Noose found in doctors’ break room at LSU hospital in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (AP)- A rope with nooses at both ends was found hanging from a bed in a doctors’ break room at the LSU hospital in Shreveport, and administrators asked federal authorities to investigate.”Such an event is and will not be tolerated,” Dr. John McDonald, chancellor of the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, said Wednesday. His brief statement said health center police are investigating and has notified the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Shreveport, which would have jurisdiction if the incident was considered a hate crime. An employee found the rope about 11 a.m. Wednesday. The head of the LSU system, Doug Lombardi, said the medical school and hospital will not tolerate such an incident.”It is not an act of free speech; this is a form of hate speech, which is clearly prohibited in our society,” Lombardi said.Investigators were interviewing people who had access to the break room, and were not commenting.
