Loyola’s Student Health Services is once again providing students with inexpensive flu shots this year.
The Health Clinic, located in the lower level of the Danna Center, began offering the shots last week, said campus nurse Terry Penton. They cost $20, and student can pay via check, cash or student account.
Penton said immunizations will remain available to Loyola students through February. She said only about 30 students came to the clinic for shots last week, a number she hopes to see increase by year’s end. October and November are usually the busiest months for flu immunizations, so Penton said she encourages all students to take advantage of the low-cost shots by coming in sooner rather than later.
Penton said that many students put off or avoid getting a flu shot, citing a lack of time, that she wants to remind students that it takes virtually no time at all to get the vaccination, especially compared to the time students will lose if they contract the flu.
