Loyola announced today that all university activities will be cancelled after 3 p.m.
According to the university’s website, Loyola will enact liberal leave through Monday, Sept. 5, which means all non-essential personnel can leave with their supervisor’s approval.
All activities, including classes, will also be cancelled at that time.
Residential students are to shelter on campus and follow directions from the Residential Life staff, officials said. Cabra Hall residents will be evacuated to the main campus if the weather gets worse.
All campus facilities will close at 3 p.m. today through Monday, except for the Sports Complex and the Danna Center, which will stay open to students.
Mass in Ignatius Chapel will also be cancelled. A student Mass will be held Sunday, Sept. 4 at 9 p.m. in the Danna Center.
Both parking garages will be open only to valid permit holders.
The closure comes as a result of the storm system in the Gulf of Mexico, Tropical Depression 13, which is expected to bring heavy rainfall and possible flooding to the New Orleans area over the next several days.
Continuing information will be available on Loyola’s website.
