Professor Block of the College of Business has convinced me. I will no longer teach “Social justice hinders [the] curriculum,” I will teach that social injustice hinders the curriculum. I will no longer lecture that “Social Justice…is typically associated with left wing…analyses. I will point out the social injustice is typically associated with right wing analyses. I will no longer assign readings that point out that “Racism and sexism account for the relative plight of racial minorities and women.” I will assign readings that show that overcoming racism and sexism will help the plight of racial minorities and women. I will stop teaching that “The planet is in great danger from environmental despoliation.” I will teach, ironically of course, that environmental despoliation helps the planet to prosper. I will not present that “Charity is an insult to the poor.” I will indicate that well order charity can assist the poor out of their poverty. And, finally, I will teach in Christian Ethics that when Jesus said, “Blessed are those who are poor,” and “Blessed are those who are hungry,” He really meant “blessed are those who are rich,” and blessed are those who are will fed.” Thank you, Professor Block, for converting me. And thank you, The Maroon, for publishing Professor Block’s illuminating Op-ed piece about what he teaches in Loyola’s College of Business.
